How can I help?

We are very grateful that many of our dear friends have asked us this question! Here are how you can help to make this wedding memorable for us and for everyone:

1. Dress up: We would like to invite you to dress up for this celebration. Spring and summer elegant dresses are recommended. Solid colors are preferred, yet florals patterns would work with the theme too. We do not recommend ladies wearing black dresses.

2. Bring a recipe: Guan-Ting loves cooking and baking for Mark. Bring one of your favorite recipes to the wedding (or email gretaliao@gmail.com) and tell us why you like the dish and what would be a perfect occasion for us to enjoy it! You can simply print it out and leave it at the gift table/card box.

3. Photography: We are honored to have Daniel Nedelcu as our photographer at the ceremony and the reception. We are also honored to have staff from Park Street Church to videotape the ceremony and stream it online for the friends and family who cannot attend. We have everything covered! We hope you can enjoy the wedding and do not need to work your smartphones for taking pictures. Please do not worry about having to capture these precious moments yourself - the photographers and the staff will have it all covered! However, you are still welcome to take photos and videos if you would like to. If so, please follow these guidelines:
  • Please do not use flash
  • During the ceremony, please do not leave your seat to take a picture/video

How we met each other

Mark and Guan-Ting were both born in Taiwan. Mark would move to Vancouver, Canada and went to college there, before coming to Boston in 2009 for his PhD. Guan-Ting went to college in Taipei, across the street from where Mark used to live, and then came to Boston in 2006. She went to Connecticut to do her doctoral study in 2008.

The first thing they got to do together was - playing music for a mutual friend’s wedding. They were involved in the same community, Park Street Church’s International Fellowship, so they have many mutual friends.

Guan-Ting became the go-to person who coordinated music at Park Street Church’s International Fellowship as well as almost every wedding of their mutual friends. At each of such wedding, Guan-Ting would recruit Mark to play piano.

Well, now here is a wedding in which neither of them need to play! Of course, there is more to the story. Hopefully, we will be able to write more. Stay tuned!
